It convinces you that you are better than another
Whispers in your ears that your language is better,
Than that of another,
And you refuse to learn to speak that foreign language
The superiority complex has led some to believe,
Their race is superior to that of others,
A little variation in the genetic coding of skin colour
Saw millions massacred, abused and tortured,
Our worth determined by a few cells,
On the most superficial part of our skin
Alas, men have believed for centuries,
That the XY combination of sex chromosomes,
Was better than the XX combination,
Our worth reduced to the set of genitalia,
In one’s groin.
Societies, communities and civilizations organized
Based on who has the better last names,
Set of genitalia, language, skin or hair colour
Ranking ourselves, not on achievement,
But, mere privilege
To be born in one country, not the other
Chance, the Y-chromosome sperm made it,
Instead of the X
When shall we learn?
Will we ever learn?
That your birth conditions
Nationality, race or gender
Don’t make you better than other,
Especially if you are stupid enough to think it does
You are not better than me because you have a lighter skin,
Or because you are you white
Get over your superiority complex!
Achieve something great,
And then I shall respect you,
For then I will know, you did something
That I could not.
I don’t get why people need to feel they are better than other people. Is it because we can’t be happy without ruining other people’s moods? Or are we truly that insecure?
